Common questions
What does "bring your own key" mean?
Anthropic and OpenAI offer API access that you can sign up for directly. Once you have a key, add it in Gatekeeper under Settings → API Keys and every AI surface — plan builder, idea review, journal coach, chart analysis — runs on your key. You pay your AI provider directly at their standard rates; we charge nothing on top. On paid plans, Gatekeeper provides managed AI so you don't need a key at all, but BYOK earns you a discount on the subscription.
Why do paid plans say "coming soon"?
Gatekeeper's autonomous agent mode — which places trades on your behalf — crosses into territory regulators care about. We're working through a US securities counsel review before opening paid signup, and we'd rather do this properly than ship and apologise. The free plan is fully open now. Join the waitlist to be notified the moment paid plans open.
Which broker do you support?
MetaTrader 5, via a small background worker (the Bridge) that runs on your VPS alongside MT5. You keep custody of funds at your broker — Gatekeeper never holds money or has standing authority over your account beyond executing trades within your written plan rules.
What can I actually do on the free plan?
Quite a lot. Build a structured plan from your trading rules, review setups against it before entry, log trades and journal outcomes with an AI coach that ties feedback to your plan — not just your P&L. Upload chart screenshots for analysis. It's the core workflow that most journaling tools charge for, and it's free during early access. The paid upgrade adds broker connectivity, automated scanning, and eventually autonomous execution.
Can I archive a plan and start a new one on free?
Yes. The free plan allows one active plan at a time — archive your current one to start fresh. There's no limit on archived plans. We designed it this way deliberately: one active plan encourages commitment to a strategy rather than constantly jumping between approaches.
Is this investment advice?
No. Gatekeeper is a tool for executing your own written trading plan. The AI scores setups against your rules — it doesn't recommend what to buy, predict markets, or claim any edge of its own. Trading derivatives is high-risk and can lose more than your deposit. You are responsible for every trade you take.
Who built this?
Gatekeeper started as a tool for the founder's own trading and is opening to external users in 2026. We're not VC-backed — this gets built carefully, with real traders, not on a growth-at-all-costs timeline. Follow the build on r/GatekeeperTrading.
